This was our 2nd trip to Lake Cumberland. I hope it wasn't our last although it was our last with Grider Hill. The boat floated although that was about the only thing that worked. Our friends that went with us had rented with Grider Hill 10 years ago although they said it definitely isn't what it used to be. Beware don't expect to much if you do book with them. Your vacation will be much more enjoyable if you don't book with Grider Hill.

When we brought it in the next morning, the crew's solution was to spray Lysol and put dryer sheets in the vents to mask the fumes smell. I mean, seriously! When we asked if they had another boat, we were told that none were ready but that also any other boat would have the same issue because of "oil buildup". Umm.. okay...
I was willing to over look the dirty kitchenette and bedrooms, grill and stove that barely worked, and doors and screens that were jacked up, and ripped up carpet all over the boat but I'm not messing around with my family's safety and we hauled ass out of there. We usually rent from state dock and will be keeping it that way from now on.
The floating cabin is gross. One toilet doesn't work and in the other bathroom there's all kinds of mold growing on the walls. Black mold and big fuzzy white mold. Smells like dogs and there's a big sopping wet spot in the carpet that never dries. Other than that, the lake is gorgeous!
If less than 1 star was an option I would have chosen that. We rented a houseboat for the weekend. Upon arrival the boat was not ready until 5pm and once we loaded it we were told the air conditioning was broken and there was nothing they were going to do about it. The staff also stated there were no other houseboats to put us in. We tried to make the best of it so we left the marina and tied up. Things only got worse from there. The hot water heater did not work either even after maintance came out and tried to fix it. To top it off the fridge only cooled to 60 degrees so all the food had to stay in coolers. The staff did there best but the management and ownership is absolutely the worst. To pay $2500 for 3 nights and have no A/C no hot water and no fridge is absolutely rediculous. We will never come back to this marina. The ownership and management need to read these reviews and fix the issues or close the marina. If you want an old crappy houseboat app his is the place to go. It really is just sad customers service this had exist.
Save yourself some grief and rent your houseboat elsewhere. Houseboat we rented for the week was dirty, falling apart and DANGEROUS. In the middle of our first night on the boat we were all woken up by gas fumes coming through the a/c vents. We turned off the generator, opened the windows and tried to get some sleep so we could bring it back to the marina in the morning.
